Mission Statement for District 57 Internet PresenceThis statement constitutes the web policy for District 57 General Service Representatives (GSRs) of Alcoholics Anonymous. District 57 of Area 59 in Alcoholics Anonymous, the web site, is to be a 12-step effort of the District 57 Web Site Committee. Site content is to be voted upon by District 57 GSRs 4 times a year.
We, the collective consciences of said groups and the web site committee wish:
1. To communicate what Alcoholics Anonymous is to the web site visitor and to do so in the simplest and most uncomplicated way. Hence the site content: What Is AA?, The 12 Steps, The 12 Traditions, The Preamble, our hotline numbers, and the inclusion of external links to our InterGroup site, Area59 of Alcoholics Anonymous, the General Service Office of Alcoholics Anonymous and The Grapevine. 2. To direct visitors at the web site to our meeting places by supplying Group names, the street address of the meeting places, general driving directions to the meetings, a map and meeting schedules. 3. To provide for the web site visitor a continuously updated calendar of AA events. These events will only be Group, District, Area or World AA sponsored events.
Administration Web site content will be a District 57-wide united effort. District 57 shall administer the site, pay the bills and reregister the domain name. Only at District 57 Committee meetings in the presence of the GSRs will we vote upon any major additions, design changes and content differences. These changes do not include meeting information updates or technical revisions such as coding shifts instituted for efficiency, which will occur on a regular and ongoing basis.The District's web email addresses shall not closely resemble the given names of the webmaster or committee members so that anonymous email addresses may be set up. There shall always be a minimum of 2 members with access to the email addresses from the web site. No one person shall ever have sole access to return mails or inquiries.There shall never be any one person in physical control of the web site. Two or more people well versed in the Traditions and web site design will be elected to rotate with the District Web Site Committee.No one individuals surname shall hold the site accounts. The site, domain name and the ISP account are to be owned by District 57 of Area 59 Alcoholics Anonymous.District 57 will not post any individual names or personal contact numbers as contacts for AA groups or the District.No individual names will be listed on the web site for any reason. References to Group, District, Area or World AA events will include basic information. Hotline/Information phone numbers or email addresses are available for further inquiries.
